Deep within, you know that the only thing that is truly important is being in alignment with spirit.
Dwayne Dyer
Alignment or lack thereof is an important indicator of how one should make a decision. Should I embark on a new project or take the promotion or find a new job? When we are more aware of our identities, values, passion, faith, and strengths, we tend to make decisions that are more aligned with who we are and how we see ourselves in our communities. Even when we are not in tune with ourselves, our body, mind, and spirit tend to nudge us toward our potential.
But sometimes we get caught up in the moment and agree to work or positions that might be disagreeable to who we are. We don’t pause but quickly resort to the yes. Yes - I will make a poster. Yes - I will facilitate the conversation. Yes - I will lead a youth group on a 10-mile hike in the wilderness under the heat of summer. Yes - I will take the promotion which will give me more money but absolutely no time for anything else. Yet when we pause just longer enough to sit with our decision, our body, mind, and spirit miraculously tell us that something is out of whack. This is where we feel uncomfortable or ill-at-ease or anxious or find ourselves sleepless/vomiting/stress-eating. Something just doesn’t feel right even though we cannot identify or name the problem.
My experiences, strengths, values, faith, and passions are aligned in my work for Platform. This I am certain. BUT I know I am not yet ready to embark on a new season of workshops. Every time, I think about organizing a workshop, my body says NO. I just don’t have the energy. I am depleted from my other responsibilities which demands my attention now. I have been doing some work behind the scene. I met with Dafne, our youth coordinator, and gave a presentation on Platform at Denver StartUp Week. And more importantly, I have finished the Embodied Presence Adult Guidebook and Adult Workbook.
Soon in October, I am planning to change our leadership team who will have a more active presence so that I can focus more on my strengths which is program development. This will be the impetus I will need to start the workshops again. It will happen but I will need a little more time.
