November 2024
Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.

The certificates for Activism@Work 2024 has been mailed out … And with that 2024 comes to an end. But it doesn’t mean the end of our work. The work has just begun as we plan for next year. What does that entail?
We have been planning our spring gatherings for the alums of Activism@Work 2024. These gatherings will be designed with three intentions in mind:
Grow our leaders
Select future facilitators
Grow our community base
This is a tall order so I asked Tsion Hundie, 2025 team leader, to step in and design the activities for monthly meetings (January - May). As you can imagine, Tsion is quite anxious but I trust that she will succeed. If not at first, then subsequently as she learns to modify and grow from her experience. I am looking forward to seeing Tsion shine - she is such a bright, determined, and amazing person!
To continue developing relationships with our support base, we will be having a potluck in early November to either celebrate or mourn the election turnout. The potluck will be just for our leadership team, the moderator and facilitators. It will be a time of conversations about the success and failures of our workshop - how to improve it so that in our next offering, Activism@Work will be better, more powerful and groundbreaking. It will also be a time to reflect on ways that the leaders could have been more impactful in the space, how they could have facilitated the conversations more effectively. It will be the aha moment where the facilitators begin to see how the training makes sense - this is where the tire hits the road, the space where theory bears out in the real world. I am definitely looking forward to this gathering; the creative, thoughtful, youthful energy will be contagious.
Also, we will have our biannual board meeting. For this meeting, I really need to sit down and think about what we should discuss. We need to talk about our vision/mission statements, future of our board as two board members step down, and our plan to double our program. Where to start and what to cover in a short meeting? I don’t know yet but it will be formative.
